TRANSLATION GRANT LAYOUT
This consisted of 45 documents that would be used by workers and customers as a reference. I made and updated icons to indicate which pet the customer had (dog, cat, or small animal), and I landed on a two column layout so important information could be called.

One challenge I faced was updating the layout of the sheets and forms to be easily read and navigated by workers and customers.
I had to create the teamplates in Microsoft Word, and limit the information to one page for each form.

MERCHANDISE DESIGN

The Jingle Bell Pup Crawl is the last event the Sacramento SPCA holds downtown. People and their pets come bar crawling at pet-friendly bars to celebrate the holidays.
I made the dog a non-descript breed to communicate a sense of welcome for all pet owners.
One challenge during this project was balancing and only using two printed colors (red and white) for this design.

Community outreach is very important to the Sacramento SPCA. The shelter provides low-cost surgeries to pet owners in need of spay/neuter services to prevent unwanted over population and crowding in shelters.
Being able to inject some humor into this project provides relief in a serious situation, and was the reason why I loved to work on this project. Laughter is the best medicine after all!

This event is the shelter’s biggest event of the year, and celebrates the community’s commitment to maintaining the health and happiness of owners and their dogs.
I illustrated several different breeds of dogs to make every dog owner feel welcome, and masked them into a paw shape so it could be recognized up close and from afar.
HEARTLINE MAGAZINE PAGE

I had the oppoprtunity to design a page for Heartline magazine that went into detail about a seasonal program offered, Camp Kindness. The program is focused on teaching kids how to properly care for animals through hands-on activities, group collaboration, and reflection on what they’ve learned through arts and crafts.
One challenge I faced was balancing everything on a single page. I opted for a large header that focused on various hands-on activities, and I used color and framing to make the educator feature stand out from the rest of the text.

This particular issue of Heartline also featured my merchandise design (above) on the opposite page from my article for the upcoming Pup Crawl event. It includes information detailing the time, place, and some of the venues on the crawl.
This page was designed by Jessica Shijo.
